A Navy veteran who used his state tax refund to buy two Lottery tickets ended up with an even bigger refund. John Riechers, 74, said he had a $40 state tax refund, so he went to Patricia’s Foods, 900 Keene St. in Columbia, and bought two $20 “Mega $$$ Multiplier Playbook” tickets. He won $40 on those tickets, so he bought two more:  one of those tickets turned out to be worth $40, and the other ticket was worth $50,000.

“I’ve been happy with it,” Riechers said, referring to the newest Playbook.

Riechers said he plans to share some of the prize money with family members and do some traveling.

“I’m going back to Alaska this summer to see some old Navy friends,” he said with a smile.

“Mega $$$ Multiplier Playbook” is the second Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket to offer six games in one. Introduced on Feb. 2, the $20 ticket has more than $27.9 million in prizes remaining. Search all Missouri Lottery games and prize amounts at MOLottery.com.
