A contractor from Mindenmines is breathing easier after winning $250,000 playing the Missouri Lottery. Robert Harris said that construction has been slow in his area, and the win will come in handy for his family.

“Work has been real dry here lately, so this really helps out,” he explained. “This will help out through the winter!”

He went on to say that his plan was to pay off his house. His wife, Shawn, agreed.

“The main worry right now is debt, so get rid of that debt,” he declared.

Harris, 40, won the $250,000 prize on a “$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” Scratchers ticket he purchased at State Line Pit Stop, 1738 W. 160 Highway, in Mindenmines. He said he scratched the ticket at home.

“It took a little bit to soak in,” he recalled. “It’s kind of hard to add when you get that excited.”

He noted his luck with choosing the right game.

“Hadn’t nobody played them,” said Harris. “Matter of fact, it was the first ticket on the roll. Everybody says not to buy the first ticket.”

After getting out of debt, Harris was unsure of their next move.

“There are a couple of ideas,” he admitted. “We’re just going to let them simmer and find out what we really want to do.”

$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” is a $20 game that officially began Aug. 11, 2012. The game features a top prize of $4 million. More than $8 million in prizes, including one top prize, remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
