A $3 impulse buy has returned a top prize for a Salem resident. While running errands on Jan. 14, LeAnn Banderman made the split-second decision to purchase a “Blackout Bingo” Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket at Philmart, 500 S. Main, in Salem. The decision was rewarded with a cool $75,000.
While claiming her prize at the Lottery’s headquarters in Jefferson City, Banderman, 26, said that she did not play her bingo Scratchers ticket until the next morning while at home with her two children and mother. Banderman admitted that unveiling the top prize was quite a surreal experience since “Blackout Bingo” is one of her favorite Lottery games. She continued to say that she prefers numbers and puzzle-type Lottery games, like bingo and crossword-inspired Scratchers tickets, because they usually take a little longer to play.
The mother of two has big plans for the windfall, saying that she is in desperate need of a vehicle upgrade. Banderman added that she would like to put some of the winnings towards a new home, as well.
Blackout Bingo” is a $3 Scratchers game that was officially introduced on May 19, 2014. The crossword-inspired game currently has more than $2 million in total prizes remaining, including more than $100,000 in top-tier prizes.
