KANSAS CITY WOMAN TURNS BIRTHDAYS INTO $50,000 TAX PAID

A retired seamstress from Kansas City wove her birthday and her sister and daughters’ birthdays to come up with the winning SHOW ME 5 Paydown combination that was drawn on May 15 to win $50,000 tax paid.* Geraldine McLin, 75, said she plans to use her prize money to help her grandkids. "I’m still shaking," McLin said to Missouri Lottery officials when she claimed her prize on Monday. McLin purchased her winning ticket at Leon’s Thriftway, 4400 E. 39th in Kansas City. The winning SHOW ME 5 Paydown numbers from the May 15 draw were: 9, 19, 22, 25 and 30. * The Missouri Lottery will pay 27 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on it’s value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $72,463.76. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
