Larry Taylor of Jerome admits he’s a regular Missouri Lottery player, but jokes, “Don’t tell my wife.” He had to do that himself after uncovering a $100,000 prize on Jan. 8. Taylor bought a “Chocolate Cash” Scratchers ticket on his lunch break that day at Rolla Motomart, 119 Howard Johnson Dr., in Rolla.

“Today, she didn’t have a problem,” said Taylor. “It took me 10 minutes to convince her I won.”

He had good things to say about the employees of Rolla Motomart.

“They’re awesome,” said Taylor. “I’ve always played there. I don’t go anywhere else.”

After his daughter told him about a chocolate-scented Lottery ticket, he decided to give it a try.

“Today, on a whim, I’ll just get one,” he recalled. “I was excited when it was the first $20,000. It was five different things (winning symbols). I got one of the hearts that said $20,000, and I thought it was over. I was ecstatic, there.”

Taylor, 45, works at the Phelps County Courthouse. He said the bulk of his winnings would go toward bills, but he might have a little left over for some travel.

“My wife and I have been married 25 years. We’ve never been on a honeymoon or any kind of trip like that. We’ll at least take one little trip,” he declared.

Taylor said he would continue to play the Lottery.

“Pay the bills first, but you’ve got to have fun,” he suggested.

Chocolate Cash” is a $5 game that officially began Dec. 29, 2014. It is the first scented Scratchers ticket for the Missouri Lottery. Taylor claimed the first of three top prizes in the game.
