Christmas came a little early for Keisha Lathrop of Iberia in the form of a $25,000 Missouri Lottery top prize. Lathrop, a bartender, and Ryan Little, a construction worker, purchased a “Happy Holidays” Scratchers ticket on Nov. 25 from Hard Times Bar and Grill, 302 N. St. Louis St., in Iberia.

“We were there having a good time with some friends and just decided to buy a few tickets,” began Lathrop.

“It was pretty spur of the moment,” the 25-year-old mother said, adding that there was no real reason behind picking the “Happy Holidays” ticket.

“He scratched it off. The entire place knew by the end of the night,” Lathrop continued.

Not much time was wasted between purchasing the ticket and claiming the top prize at the Lottery’s Jefferson City headquarters the next morning. Other than possibly paying some bills and purchasing Christmas gifts, the duo had yet to make any definite plans for the prize.

Happy Holidays” is a $2 Scratchers ticket that officially began on Oct. 19. Lathrop is the second Missouri Lottery player to claim the $25,000 top prize. All holiday-themed tickets are eligible for entry in the “Hollywood Holiday” second-chance promotion, where players have the chance to win one of four trips to Hollywood and other prizes.
