A Ballwin man is enjoying the benefits of playing Powerball after his ticket from the Aug. 22 drawing turned out to be worth $100,000. Edward "Ed" Pfeiffer, 58, said he and his 23-year-old daughter were eating at a restaurant on Aug. 21 when she went next door to 7-Eleven, 1288 Old Orchard Court in Manchester, to buy a $5 Powerball ticket. One of the plays turned out to be worth $100,000. Pfeiffer’s daughter let the computer select the numbers on the ticket. The winning combination was: 2, 28, 30, 36 and 39. Pfeiffer, a mechanical contractor, said he plans to spend the money. The Missouri Lottery has sold 557 Powerball tickets worth $100,000 since the game began in April 1992.
