A St. Louis security professional is going to “stick to the plan” with regards to a $100,000 Missouri Lottery win. Reginald “Reggie” Arnold, 61, said no big changes were in the works, other than maybe trying to work a little less.

“I’ve been considering retirement, working part-time,” he said. “But that’s the standing joke, because I’m still working a lot.”

It was his love of Lottery play that opened up his retirement options. Arnold bought a “$500 Frenzy” Scratchers ticket at QuikTrip, 1500 Zumbehl Road in St. Charles, on Saturday, Aug. 23. He said he’s had relatively good luck winning smaller prizes, but nothing prepared him for what he saw that day.

“I’ve done it many, many, many times over the years, but it was almost like I was scratching a ticket for the first time, because you can’t believe that you have a big winner,” recalled Arnold.  “I always scratch off the numbers first, and then the prizes. I scratched off one, and it was a match - $20,000. I was just stunned.”

Being a Lottery pro, Arnold knew that there could be matching amounts. There were five prizes of $20,000, adding up to a total of $100,000.

“It was surreal,” he said.

He said he plans to stay where he lives and keep working at the Art Museum in Forest Park. Arnold, and his wife, Vera, plan to make some improvements to their home and maybe get a new car. He’ll keep playing the Lottery, too.

“It’s hard to stop,” he said. “I might be a little greedy, but I stay within my budget. It’s fun and exciting, believing that you have a chance to win. And when you hit, it’s so surreal.
“Whether you consider it a hunch or a blessing, continue to the play the Lottery.”

$500 Frenzy” is a $5 game that officially began Aug. 4. Arnold claimed the second of four top prizes in the game. More than $11 million in prizes remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery game here at MOLottery.com.
