For the first time ever, the Missouri Lottery has partnered with an international airport to sell its products. Travelers through the Kansas City International Airport (KCI) are now able to purchase Missouri Lottery tickets, including the multi-state Powerball and Mega Millions games.
“We’re thrilled to be able to partner with KCI,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “We are always looking for alternative venues in which to sell our products and reach new players. More than 9.6 million passengers from all over the world passed through this airport last year alone. Not only will we be able to reach millions of new potential players, who can help us Play It Forward for Missouri public education, but we will also help provide additional income to businesses within the airport.”
Missouri Lottery terminals, which sell Draw Games tickets such as Club Keno, Powerball and Mega Millions, are all located in airport Terminal B: in the Boulevard Brewing Company (near Gate 56); the Top of the Crown Grill (on the second floor above Gate 57); and the Farmers Market (near Gate 45), which is open 24 hours each day. Three instant ticket vending machines, which sell Scratchers tickets and Draw Games, are located across the hallway from Boulevard Brewing Company, at Farmer’s Market (near Gate 37) and across from Jose Cuervo Tequileria (outside Southwest Airlines ticketing).
“The airport is the perfect place to sell Lottery tickets,” Reardon noted. “Passengers arriving early to get through security checkpoints, and travelers with layovers and travel delays, can now pass the time and entertain themselves by playing Club Keno, Scratchers or one of our other Draw Games. People will be winning, sharing their excitement and often times putting their winnings back into food, drink and merchandise purchases right here in Kansas City. It’s a win-win situation, and we can’t thank the Kansas City Aviation Department and HMS Host, which runs the vendor locations within KCI, enough for this opportunity.”
The Missouri Lottery and the Kansas City Aviation Department, which operates KCI, held a ribbon-cutting and kick-off event today in front of Boulevard Brewing Company, featuring human Lotto balls and prize giveaways.
