When Frances Harris, 51, of Spanish Lake asked her daughter-in-law to do her a favor and pick up a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on July 15, she had in no way prepared for what was about to come next. The “20X The Cash” ticket Harris received was worth a whopping $100,000. The top-prize winning ticket was purchased at Midwest Petroleum, 12188 Bellefontaine Road, in St. Louis.
“I asked her to get me a pack of cigarettes and a Lottery ticket, and she did!” laughed Harris. “I told her to get me a $5 one. I didn’t tell her what specific $5 ticket, she just went in there and got a ticket.”
Harris’s daughter-in-law, Latia Harris, purchased the first $5 ticket she saw and dropped it off at Harris’s home.
“When we saw what the ticket was worth, we both started screaming. Our neighbors could hear us screaming; that was our reaction. Needless to say, she is the best daughter-in-law in the world,” boasted Harris.
The first-time Lottery winner plans on buying her retired husband some lawn-care equipment and paying some bills with her Lottery win.
“Oh, I will definitely treat her to something nice, too,” exclaimed Harris when asked if she would do anything for her daughter-in-law.
"20X The Cash" was introduced December 30, 2013, and has more than $5.4 million in prizes remaining. Learn more about all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games and their remaining prizes at MOLottery.com.
