A Jefferson City retiree said he usually plays Missouri Lottery crossword Scatchers games, but a suggestion to try a new game led to a $5,000 prize. Daniel Heinrich, 62, stopped at Break Time, 1907 E. McCarty in Jefferson City, on May 22, and the clerk pointed out there were two new games.

“One of the clerks said it was a good game, and I said, ‘Eh, give me one,’” began Heinrich. “Usually when new games come out, I’ll try one or two.”

He took one of both new games available, and the “$100K Payday” revealed a $5,000 prize.

“I went home, fixed a glass of iced tea and was sitting there watching a movie,” recalled Heinrich. “I was really surprised. I had to look at it two or three times before I believed it was a winner.”

He told his wife, Debra, who is still working, that he was bored and going to the riverboat casino.

“She said, ‘We don’t have the money to spare.’ I said, ‘Yeah we do!’ My luck doesn’t usually run that good,” he admitted.
Instead, Heinrich said he would use the money to pay bills and put the rest into savings. He might also purchase a few Scratchers tickets. Heinrich said he usually starts with a crossword ticket, and then he’ll try other games if he wins. He has been enjoying playing and winning on the $20 “Lucky 7s Playbook.”
“Keep trying,” he told other players looking for a big winner. “They are hard to find, but they are out there.”
$100K Payday” is a $5 game that officially began May 19. The game features a top prize of $100,000. All six top prizes and more than $14 million in total prizes are waiting to be found.
