An O’Fallon woman said she was “intrigued” by a Missouri Lottery television commercial, tried the new game and ended up winning the top prize of $250,000. Karen Chadwell said she’s a regular Lottery player, but the commercial highlighting the new game, $250K Triple Play, made her want to try it.
“This is only the second ticket I’ve bought,” explained Chadwell. “It’s always fascinated me after seeing the commercial on television.”
To be accurate, the second ticket she purchased was a multi-draw ticket for multiple drawings. But she got an exchange ticket after cashing it in following the first drawing. Chadwell bought her winning Quick Pick ticket at Schnucks Market, 101 Civic Center Dr., in Lake St. Louis.
“Last night, I decided to check my tickets,” she recalled. “That number came up and said I was a winner. I just kept looking at it. I was afraid to take the computer down because that number might just disappear.”
When Chadwell’s daughter, Vicki, returned from the store, she confirmed the $250,000 win.
“I started to cry,” she admitted. “Because I couldn’t believe it.”
Chadwell is retired from 25 years at BJC Healthcare in St. Louis. She said that maybe she and Vicki would take a trip to California with the winnings.
She told other players “you have to play to win.”
“Put money in it,” she counseled. “It worked out great!”
$250K Triple Play is a $2 Draw Game with drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The game features nine different ways to win, including the top prize of $250,000.
