Jessee Head was going about his daily activities when an unexpected emergency sent the 39-year-old to a convenience store he normally does not frequent. The detour ended with Head staring in disbelief at a $100,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.

Head found himself desperately searching for a restroom after running an errand for work. After finding Petro Mart, 5612 E. St. Charles Road in Columbia, Head decided to try his luck on a few Scratchers tickets. With one of his tickets yielding a $6 prize, Head decided to buy a “$100,000 Fortune” ticket. It was this extra ticket that Head could not believe had some extra zeros.

Realizing his ticket was worth $100,000, Head tipped the clerk and gave her a kiss before calling a friend to tell him the good news. By the time Head had claimed his winning ticket, he had yet to call his wife.

Head said, “First, I’m going to tell her I won $10,000, and see what she says, then go from there.” Head’s wife could hardly believe her husband’s luck either.

When asked how he planned to spend his newly found fortune, Head said he was going to “pay off everything but the house, then maybe buy a trailer and probably buy a little car.” He continued saying everything else will be put into savings.

$100,000 Fortune,” a $5 ticket, officially began on April 14 and still has six more $100,000 winning tickets remaining.
