Springfield Man Plans for New Home with Lottery Win

A frequent player of Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, Donald Skillens, 64, has a scratching routine and even a favorite game. It was a strategy that ended in joy when he uncovered a $100,000 prize on a “50X The Cash” ticket he purchased at Kum & Go, 2904 E. Sunshine St., in Springfield.

“I went home, turned on the TV, sat at the table, and said, ‘I might as well get this over with,’” he teased.

“I had to look at it twice,” Skillens added, sharing his initial disbelief when he revealed the “50X” symbol that signaled he had won 50 times the prize amount listed. “I did scream a little bit… but not too loud or anything.

“I called my sister in California and asked her, ‘What’s 50 times $2,000?’” he said.

Though he already knew the answer, it felt good to hear it out loud.

“I want a nice house to settle down in,” he summarized, when asked about future plans, not ruling out more Scratchers purchases in hopes of winning again. “The year ain’t over yet!”

50X The Cash” is a $10 game with top prizes of $1 million. It also offers thousands of other cash prizes ranging from $10 to $100,000.  Remaining prizes for all Lottery Scratchers games can be viewed at MOLottery.com and via the Lottery’s mobile app.
