Alma Man Claims $1 Million Powerball Prize

An Alma man came forward on March 28 to claim the $1 million Powerball “match five” prize from the March 22 drawing. Kenneth Schmidt, 51, purchased the winning ticket at Break Time, 1501 Main St., in Higginsville.

Schmidt let the computer select the five winning numbers. They were: 13, 28, 31, 55 and 58.

In addition to Schmidt’s win, Break Time will receive a bonus of $1,000 for selling the second-place Powerball prize.

Powerball is a multi-state game that gives players nine ways to win cash prizes with the jackpot starting at $40 million. In addition to the jackpot, the game offers second-level prizes of $1 million, third-level prizes of $10,000 and better-than-ever payouts by using Power Play.
