Missouri Powerball Player Scores $96.5 Million Jackpot, Another Wins $1 Million

Story Photo

One Powerball ticket sold in Missouri matched all six numbers drawn Saturday night to win the $96.5 million jackpot, the sixth largest jackpot prize ever won in Missouri. Another ticket matched all five white-ball numbers to win $1 million. The winning numbers were: 13, 28, 31, 55, 58, and the Powerball number was 15.

If you find you hold the winning jackpot ticket, be sure to sign the back and put it in a safe place until you can take it to the Missouri Lottery Headquarters, located at 1823 Southridge Drive in Jefferson City. A map to the office can be found on the “Contact Us” page of the Lottery’s website at MOLottery.com. Winners are also encouraged to call the Lottery headquarters at (573) 751-4050.

“When the jackpot winner comes to Jefferson City, we will explain the claim process and other decisions they will need to make,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “We want the winner to take his or her time in getting the proper legal and financial advice before they come to our Jefferson City office. It is also wise to tell as few people as possible at first, so you have uninterrupted time to make important decisions and arrangements.”

The winner of the $1 million match-five prize can redeem the prize at any Missouri Lottery office. Offices are located in Jefferson City, St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield, and maps to each office can be found on the Lottery’s website.

The Missouri winners have 180 days to claim these prizes, which in this case is Sept. 18, 2014. The $96.5 million jackpot winner can select to get the jackpot prize in 30 graduated annuity payments or in one lump-sum payment. If no choice is made in 60 days, the jackpot is automatically paid in 30 payments. The $1 million winner will get his or her check as a one-time cash payment.

The last time a Powerball jackpot was won in Missouri was three months ago on Christmas Day 2013, when a Kansas City couple won a jackpot worth $71.5 million. To date, Missouri has sold the second-most Powerball jackpot tickets of all of the Powerball members with a total of 29.
