It was a Missouri Lottery television commercial for the brand-new $250K Triple Play Draw Game that spurred a Nixa man to purchase a ticket that ultimately led to a $250,000 pay day. Larry Schmutz, 64, purchased the winning ticket for the March 5 drawing at Bob’s EZ Stop, 1202 N. Main St., in Nixa.
“We’d seen the game on TV, and my wife asked if I’d played it yet, so I went out and bought a ticket,” he shared.
He learned just how profitable his wife’s prompt had been when he scanned the ticket the next day to determine if he’d won a prize.
“It was a pretty good $2 investment,” he teased about the $250,000 winning outcome.
In addition to paying off some bills, Schmutz said the win will “make retirement easier.”
“I’m awful lucky,” he added. “I have a wonderful wife, two wonderful kids and four wonderful grandkids.”
And now he can add Lottery winner to that list.
The winning $250K Triple Play numbers for the March 5 drawing were: 4, 42, 46 and 55. Schmutz used Quick Pick to allow the computer to automatically select his numbers for him. His win marks the second time the top prize has been won within the game’s first two weeks.
The new $2 game includes three separate games with nine chances to win on a single ticket and a top prize of $250,000 cash, as well as smaller prizes for matching two or three numbers. Players can win up to $250,000 on Game 1, up to $10,000 on Game 2 and up to $5,000 on Game 3. The overall chances of winning a prize are 1 in 6.18.
