BALLWIN CARPENTER WINS $100,000

A carpenter from Ballwin built his net worth up by $100,000 after matching all five white-ball numbers in the Aug. 1 Powerball drawing. David Brauch, 46, said he plans to use the windfall to pay off his home mortgage and have a "better vacation." Brauch plans to take a trip to Thailand in the near future to visit friends. Brauch bought his winning ticket at QuikTrip, 604 Big Bend Blvd. in St. Louis, when he stopped for gas. He let the computer pick the lucky combination on his $3 ticket. Those numbers were: 24, 25, 26, 34 and 39. To date, 539 Powerball tickets worth $100,000 have been sold in Missouri since the game started in 1992.
