LaToya Chatfield of Kirksville had some advice for fellow Missouri Lottery enthusiasts: “Never give up!” The 28-year-old is a testament to what a positive attitude can do to help someone accomplish a goal. Chatfield claimed a $6,000 Pick 4 prize on March 2, after what she called “constant lucky number playing and believing.”
“I always play my birthday – November 19 – or 1-1-1-9,” Chatfield shared while claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City. “I watch the numbers, and I just knew my numbers were bound to come through. And they did!”
The first-time Lottery winner won on the Pick 4 evening draw by staying true to her special number combination and matching all four numbers drawn: 1-1-1-9.
“We’re going shopping,” Chatfield beamed during her interview, noting that she and her sister, Rosie, who accompanied Chatfield to Jefferson City, were “stopping on the way home” at various retail locations.
“This will ease off a lot of financial stress,” she added. “I’m just excited. This has never happened before. I still can’t believe it’s real.”
Chatfield bought the winning ticket at Xpress Mart, 1023 E. Jefferson St., in Kirksville.
Pick 4 costs 50 cents or $1 per play and has an average of 130 winners per draw. Players can win from $30 to $6,000 on a $1 play by matching a wide variety of numbers and combinations.
