A longstanding family tradition paid off with a $100,000 surprise two days before Christmas. Sandra Meyer, 61, of Lebanon and Paul Meyer, 39, of Richmond, Va., claimed a top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Black Pearls” Scratchers ticket over the holidays.

“My son was visiting from Virginia,” Sandra began, noting the two have been buying Missouri Lottery tickets together for years. “We always like to play a bit when we’re together. It’s fun to daydream.”

Both Lottery enthusiasts saw their shared hope of winning the Lottery come true, just in time for Christmas.

“We couldn’t believe it,” she reminisced. “We kept looking at the ticket and thinking it wasn’t true.”

The lucky winners plan to use the windfall to pay off bills and save.

“I’m thankful,” she added. “I feel truly blessed that this happened to us.”

The winning ticket was sold at Twin Oaks 1 Stop, 1130 Lynn St., in Lebanon.

Black Pearls” is a $5 ticket with a top prize of $100,000, a bonus play area on the back of the game and more than $18 million in total prizes.
