Winning the Missouri Lottery is becoming a habit for one Farmington woman. Brenda Scoggins, 61, claimed a $100,000 winning Scratchers ticket at the St. Louis Lottery office on Dec. 19. It’s the second such prize she’s won in the last two years.
Scoggins luck this time arrived on a “Millionaire” Scratchers ticket. She purchased it at Casey’s General Store, 529 Potosi St., in Farmington.
“I go about once a week and buy one,” began Scoggins.
She said there was no reason why she picked the “Millionaire” ticket.
“I just saw the ticket and bought it,” she laughed. “I couldn’t believe it.”
Scoggins won a similar prize on a “Black Pearls” Scratchers ticket in May 2012.
There are no big plans for the windfall, although Scoggins said it would help with retirement. Unrelated to the Lottery win, she retired from her job in December and was excited about the prospect of having time with her husband to travel.
“I can retire in comfort without worrying how we’re going to pay the electric bill,” she said.
The two-time Lottery winner said she’ll continue to play and offered some advice to other Lottery players.
“Just take a chance,” she counseled.
“You know, two years in row; I’ve got to get one for next year!” she added with a laugh.
“Millionaire” is a $10 game that officially began May 20. The game features three top prizes of $1 million, of which two remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
