The Mega Millions jackpot for this Friday night is up to the second-highest ever in the game – $425 million. It is the fifth-highest jackpot ever offered in North America.
“It’s a lot of fun to dream during this holiday season, but we want to remind players to always play within their means,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “It only takes one ticket to win.”
Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at more than 4,800 locations around the state until 8:59 p.m. on Friday night. There are nine prizes in the game ranging from $1 to the $400 million jackpot. The overall chances of winning any prize are 1 in 14.7.
Reardon said players should always sign their tickets immediately after they buy them, keep them in a safe place and be sure to check them after the drawing takes place.
“Profits from the sales during these large jackpot runs go to public education in Missouri, so when you take a chance on Mega Millions in Missouri, you are helping public education.”
