For the first time since the game was enhanced in October, a Missouri Lottery player has won $1 million by matching all five white-ball numbers drawn in the Dec. 3 Mega Millions drawing. The prize, which would have been $250,000 under the game’s previous matrix, was won on a ticket purchased at QuikTrip, 10601 State Line Road, in Kansas City.
The winning number combination was: 7, 12, 41, 44, and 59.
According to May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery, the lucky ticket holder “should sign the back of the ticket immediately, keeping it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prize at one of our Lottery offices.”
Reardon also noted that all players should check their tickets closely.
“There are nine ways to win a Mega Millions prize, so even if you didn’t win a million dollars last night, your ticket could still be a winner,” she said. “In fact, two other Missouri players – one in Thayer and one in Arnold – each won $5,000 in last night’s drawing.”
Draw Game winners, including those who play Mega Millions, have exactly 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. In this case, the winners have until June 1, 2014. Prizes can be claimed at any of the Lottery’s four offices, which are located in Kansas City, St. Louis, Jefferson City and Springfield.
