A St. Louis man was “shocked” to discover a $100,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Pierre Triplett, 49, bought two “$100,000 Casino Royale” Scratchers tickets at Gas Mart, 9301 Lewis & Clark Blvd., in Jennings.

“I couldn’t believe it. Because, this was, like, in St. Louis city,” declared Triplett. “You don’t hear about that too much.”

Triplett said he scratched the winning ticket in his vehicle. He won on the second ticket, after almost leaving the store without it.

“I bought one, and it wasn’t a winner. I turned around and was fixing to leave, and I said, ‘Ah, I’ll get another one.’ I got to scratching some of the numbers, and the winning number was a 25. After that, I blanked out a little bit.”

The windfall comes at a good time for Triplett. He recently quit his job to focus on acquiring rental properties. He said the money would be invested in real estate.

“I didn’t know if I made the right move, but this ticket right here has kind of made it concrete, solid,” he claimed. “It changed everything. They say there are about four more of those tickets out there – I want to go looking for them!”

Triplett is a regular player, and though he said he would slow down a little “to give someone else a chance,” he counseled other players to “get to know those tickets.”

“The tickets will tell you where to go,” he suggested.

He had some additional advice for Lottery players.

“If you get one of those tickets, and you scratch it, be sitting down,” he declared. “Be sitting down! You don’t want to be standing, and you definitely don’t want to be near steps.”

$100,000 Casino Royale” is a $5 ticket that officially began Sept. 9. More than $9 million in prizes, including three top prizes of $100,000, remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket here at MOLottery.com.
