The results are in, and one Sullivan woman was crowned as the grand-prize winner in the Missouri Lottery’s second of three “Cadillac® Riches” second-chance promotion drawings on Oct. 3. Alesia Caltry, 52, joins Nancy Polomsky of Lee’s Summit, the winner of the first drawing, as the lucky recipient of a 2013 Cadillac® Escalade™ valued at $67,450. Caltry and Polomsky both won by entering non-winning “Cadillac Riches” Scratchers tickets online through their free My Lottery® Players Club accounts.
More than 160,000 non-winning tickets were entered by players hoping to score the keys to a luxury vehicle or a check for the cash value in the second “Cadillac Riches” drawing.
While claiming the prize at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City, Caltry explained how she and her husband, Tony, “just bought a brand new truck,” so the pair opted to receive the cash value of the prize rather than the vehicle.
Caltry, who deemed the win as “almost unbelievable,” didn’t realize she’d won until the day after the drawing.
“My nephew had called the night before and congratulated us,” she began, referring to the phone message left for the couple on Oct. 2. “I thought, ‘Whatever!’”
The Caltrys dismissed the phone message until the following morning, when Alesia visited MOLottery.com and saw her name listed as the grand-prize winner.
“I’m like, ‘Oh, my,’” she recalled. “We did win!”
The parents of three children plan to use the windfall towards home improvements and a celebration with their family and friends.
To enter the third and final “Cadillac Riches” drawing for a chance at a Cadillac Escalade (one grand prize will be awarded) or $250 cash (20 first prizes will be awarded), submit tickets at MOLottery.com via My Lottery by Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. The drawing will be held on Nov. 7.
