Montgomery County resident Marilyn Carver knew exactly how she’d spend the $5,000 prize she won on a Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Casino Royale” Scratchers ticket. While claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City, the 69-year-old Rhineland woman said she’s going to “blow the money” on a girls weekend with her daughter, Vickie, and sister.
“I don’t know where we’ll go yet,” Carver beamed. “But we’ll have a good time with this extra money.”
Vickie, who accompanied her mother while claiming her prize, said she has always been “a very generous lady,” so it didn’t come as a surprise to learn she’d be sharing the windfall.
The retired factor worker said some people consider her lucky, but she gives credit to “the one above” for her blessings.
“I won $5,000 last year, a handful of $1,000 prizes and some smaller ones in the past year or so,” she shared.
Given Carver’s track record, she’ll likely be back at Lottery headquarters with another winning ticket before her 70th birthday, which is approaching.
“My birthday is Dec. 8, so I am considering this win as an early present,” she said. “I hope to win even more before the New Year!”
Carver bought her winning ticket at Loutre Market, 1381 Highway 19, in Hermann.
“$100,000 Casino Royale” is a $5 game that offers a top prize of $100,000 and more than $4 million in prizes ranging from $40 to $1,000.
