A Knob Noster woman used family birthdates to win a $250,000 Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash jackpot. Maria Webb, 60, matched all five winning Show Me Cash numbers in the Sept. 21 drawing. She bought her lucky ticket at Country Market, 410 E. Young Ave., in Warrensburg.
Webb admitted to playing most Lottery games and using her own numbers.
“It’s the same ticket I have been playing for a long time,” she explained. “It’s my two granddaughters’, my husband’s and two sons’ birthdates.”
The winning Show Me Cash numbers on Sept. 21 were: 20, 21, 22, 25 and 27.
Although this is the first big win for Webb, she said she would continue to play the same numbers.
“I’ve been playing the same ticket,” she declared. “And I never lose hope. Stick to your numbers. Don’t give up.”
Webb believes that the windfall is a “gift.” She has family in the Philippines that were recently hit by a typhoon, and she has been helping them. She pledged to help rebuild their home, which was destroyed by the storm.
Her plans also include sprucing up her own home. Webb lives in an older home with her husband, William. The two have already begun replacing worn features in their house, like windows. She said they would pay off the loan they got for the windows and keep going.
“We’ve been planning to have our driveway fixed,” she began. “The roof, the bathroom… we need new kitchen counters. It’s an old house, and it needs to be updated.”
All of that is possible now. Despite her good fortune, Webb said she’ll keep her job at EnerSys.
“If I hit the Powerball, then I’ll retire,” she declared.
Show Me Cash is a daily Draw Game with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until someone wins. Webb claimed the 276th jackpot awarded in the game. In the last 12 months, 62 Show Me Cash jackpots have been awarded for an average amount of more than $160,000. Country Market received a $500 bonus for selling a winning Show Me Cash jackpot ticket.
