St. Louis Woman Takes Chance, Wins $40,000 Powerball Prize

Story Photo

A decision to add a special feature to a Powerball ticket paid off for a St. Louis (63113)* woman earlier this month. Catherine Davis, 54, would’ve won $10,000 for matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball on Sept. 4. However, she spent an extra $1 to add Power Play to her ticket, which ballooned her payday into a $40,000 prize.
Davis used Quick Pick on the ticket she bought at QuikTrip, 9099 Natural Bridge Road, in St. Louis. The winning numbers were:  2, 9, 26, 45, 47 and the Powerball was 11.
Powerball is a $2 multi-lottery Draw Game that features nine ways to win cash prizes. In addition to the jackpot, which starts at $40 million and rolls until someone wins, the game offers second-level prizes of $1 million, third-level prizes of $10,000 and better-than-ever payouts by using Power Play. Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.
