It was already a fun-filled evening for Virginia Martin of Waynesville on Sept. 7. The 41-year-old was having dinner with her mother and sister at Steve’s Place, 207 Historic 66 in Waynesville, when the ladies decided to try the Missouri Lottery’s Club Keno game. The evening ended with a bang after Martin played an 8-Spot with Bulls-Eye, and the numbers she selected hit. The feat earned her a $53,048 payday.
“We jumped up and down and hugged,” Martin recalled, referring to the moment she and her family realized Virginia had become the luckiest Lottery enthusiast in the room.
Martin explained that she’d been playing the Lottery’s “Cadillac® Riches” Scratchers ticket hoping to win a vehicle before she changed her routine and tried Club Keno.
“Now I have enough to buy a new car,” she added, noting that rather than splurge on a Cadillac, she’ll stick to something that will leave her with “some money left over to pay bills” and share with her three children and husband. “I’ll probably get a Honda Civic.”
To play Club Keno, players can choose how many different numbers (also called “spots”) they want to play from 1 to 10. Twenty numbers from a field of one to 80 are chosen in a computerized random Club Keno drawing held every four minutes.
