St. Louis Truck Driver Hauls In Lottery Jackpot

When Larry Futrell of St. Louis saw the winning Show Me Cash numbers at MOLottery.com for the Sept. 4 drawing, he knew he was a winner.  He has played the same number combination -- 2, 12, 18, 28, and 31 -- since 1992, when the game was called SuperCash.  Futrell pocketed a jackpot worth $171,250.

“It’s a combination of family birth dates,” offered Futrell, 55, when asked how he chose his winning numbers. “I went to the website, and when I saw my numbers, I just couldn’t believe it.  I was in a state of shock. I was so excited, I skipped dinner!”

His luck began earlier that week with the birth of his first grandchild on Sept. 1.

“I will have to put the number one on my list of lucky numbers,” he added.

Futrell, a truck driver and realtor, is a regular Show Me Cash player.  He purchased his winning ticket at Spirits Plus II, 3803 Vaile Ave. in Florissant.

Futrell and his wife already have a plan for their lucky windfall.

“Our wedding anniversary is coming up on Oct. 1 and I really want to celebrate,” he declared.

Show Me Cash is a daily game with jackpots start at $50,000 and rolls until someone wins.  Show Me Cash has an estimated average winning jackpot of more than $134,000.  The jackpot increases by at least $5,000 each drawing until it is won. There have been 59 Show Me Cash jackpots won in the last 12 months.  Show Me Cash has had 275 jackpot winners since the game began with an average jackpot of more than $163,000.
