A St. Louis man has stepped forward with the winning Show Me Cash ticket from the Missouri Lottery drawing on April 20. Richard Williams, 58, said he knew he had won the $232,000 prize; he just took his time to “get everything ready.”
“I pick my own numbers, and I play them faithfully,” he explained. “I was sitting out in the front and I heard it (winning numbers hotline). I said, ‘I’ve got those numbers.’”
Williams, who said he regularly plays most games, bought his winning ticket at Veterans Currency Exchange, 900 N. Grand Blvd., in St. Louis.
During the last few months, he’s been preparing his home for the overhaul that’s coming. Williams said the windfall would pay for remodeling the kitchen, bathroom, and possibly adding solar panels.
“Just rehab the house, period. There’s a lot that needs to be done to it,” he declared. “And just survive after that. Just live.”
Williams admitted that he didn’t need much to get by, but he is still playing the Lottery. He offered this advice for other players.
“Be consistent,” he counseled. “You pick your numbers, and then you play them constantly.”
Show Me Cash is a daily Draw Game with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until someone wins. In the last 12 months, 60 Show Me Cash jackpots have been awarded for an average amount of more than $160,000. Williams claimed the 250th jackpot in the game.
