Car-Mac's Contributes More than $541,139 to Public Education

For the second consecutive year, Car-Mac’s, 85 State Highway O in Steele, was inducted into the Missouri Lottery’s Million Dollar Club, an elite group of 33 retailers, for selling more than $1 million in Lottery products last year. To celebrate the achievement, the Missouri Lottery hosted a customer appreciation event at the store on July 2.

“The real winner is public education,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. “Lottery sales at Car-Mac’s alone generated more than half a million dollars for public education in calendar year 2012.”

Reardon explained that the Million Dollar Club is a way to honor retail locations that are going above and beyond to raise money for a variety of programs, including A+ Scholarships, Virtual Schools, Special Education Excess Costs, Access Missouri, the Classroom Trust Fund, library acquisitions and educational scholarships.

“The customer appreciation event was meant to be a fun way to both highlight the store’s success and reward their customers by holding special in-store drawings and awarding prizes,” Reardon said.
