A Kansas City artist’s digital paintings are the backdrop for the Missouri Lottery’s newest sport-themed Scratchers ticket, “Kansas City Chiefs.” Chris Sembower, an artist and Chiefs fan who has worked on creative projects for the Chiefs, was commissioned to compose two scenes for the new $5 ticket, which goes on sale at Kansas City area retail locations on Aug. 26.
“We are thrilled to be able to have such a talented local artist design this ticket,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. “Chris has an exceptional gift, along with a passion for the team, and we were lucky to be able to showcase it on our tickets.”
The new game features a $75,000 top prize and a chance to win one of 10 all-inclusive 2014 season ticket packages, which include two season tickets, food and beverages, VIP parking and $500 cash. Other cash prizes, ranging from $5 to $10,000 can be won instantly in the game.
Sembower, 27, said he was “blown away” when he was asked to create the artwork for a Missouri Lottery ticket.
“I was almost speechless,” he said. “The biggest obstacle was designing something in which half of the artwork was going to get scratched off.”
Sembower added that prior to this project, Lottery tickets were a holiday tradition for his family.
“Usually it (Lottery) was something we put in stocking stuffers,” he mused. “This year, I may not want to scratch them.”
To play the new game, just match any of “Your Numbers” to any of the “Winning Numbers” and win the prize shown. Reveal a football symbol and win that prize automatically, or reveal a “TD” (touchdown) symbol and win all 20 prizes.
