More than 80,700 ticket holders in Missouri won more than $1.4 million in prizes in last night’s Powerball jackpot drawing – the third highest ever – including one ticket sold that matched all five white-ball numbers to win the $1 million second-level prize.
“Players should check their tickets closely,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery. “You might not have won the jackpot, but you could have won one of the eight other prizes.”
Reardon said the real winner from the large Powerball jackpot run is public education.
“The Missouri Lottery sold more than $18.7 million in Powerball tickets during this jackpot run, and that translates into approximately $7.2 million to public education, just from Powerball sales alone.”
The current jackpot run began June 22.
The winning numbers from the Aug. 7 drawing were: 5, 25, 30, 58, 59 and the Powerball number was 32. Players have exactly 180 days from the drawing, in this case Feb. 3, 2014, to claim these prizes.
The ticket worth $1 million was sold at Hucks Food Store, 2875 St. Peters Howell Road in St. Peters. One other ticket sold in Missouri matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win the third-level prize of $10,000. That ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store, 709 W. McPherson St. in Knob Noster.
