A Clay County resident is $60,000 richer after winning the Missouri Lottery’s Show Me Cash jackpot prize on July 19. William L’Hommedieu used Quick Pick to match all five winning numbers, which were: 12, 18, 22, 25 and 31. The 65-year-old purchased his ticket at Price Chopper, 896 S. State Route 291, in Liberty.
Accepting the news of his windfall didn’t come easy for the first-time Lottery winner. He admitted that after reading the numbers on MOLottery.com, he continuously compared his ticket to the winning numbers each day for the next week until finally believing he’d won.
The retired electrician joked that in addition to paying off debt, his wife of 20 years, Brenda, will likely have her own plans.
“She’s a professional shopper, so Macy’s and Kohl’s will probably get half of it,” he teased.
Show Me Cash, a daily Draw Game that launched in 2008, features jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until someone wins. L’Hommedieu is the game’s 266th jackpot winner. The largest Show Me Cash jackpot prize awarded to date is $898,000 in 2012.&
