A retired United States military veteran is $100,000 richer after uncovering a top prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers game on July 18. Kenneth Wright Jr., 65, bought the winning “Powerball/Mega Millions” ticket at Raymore Price Chopper, 900 W. Foxwood Drive, in Raymore.

It wasn’t until returning to his Cass County residence last week that he discovered he’d won enough money to buy a new car, share with his three kids and even put some aside for the future.

“I was just sitting at my desk scratching off the tickets I bought,” he recalled, noting he purchased a few Scratchers games at various price points. “Usually I save the larger tickets for last.”

After scratching off the $5 “Powerball/Mega Millions” ticket, he asked one of his sons to also take a look to confirm he “wasn’t dreaming.”

“It took him longer than it took me to realize it,” Wright teased. “He finally said, ‘Yeah, you’re right!’”

Wright summed up his Lottery-winning experiencing by expressing gratitude for his good fortune.

“I’m sure there are a lot more people who are more deserving, but I am thankful for it,” he shared.

Powerball/Mega Millions” is a $5 Scratchers ticket that awards a top prize of $100,000 and the chance to win free Powerball and Mega Millions tickets.
