Huck's Food Store Contributes More than $263,339 to Public Education

Huck’s Food Store, 353 S. Kingshighway St. in Cape Girardeau, was inducted into the Missouri Lottery’s Million Dollar Club, an elite group of 33 retailers, for selling more than $1 million in Lottery products last year. To celebrate the achievement, the Missouri Lottery hosted a customer appreciation event at the store on July 19.

“The real winner is public education,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. “Lottery sales at this Huck’s Food Store alone generated more than $263,339 for the state and public education in calendar year 2012.”

Reardon explained that the Million Dollar Club is a way to honor retail locations that are going above and beyond to raise money for a variety of programs, including A+ Scholarships, Virtual Schools, Special Education Excess Costs, Access Missouri, the Classroom Trust Fund, library acquisitions and educational scholarships.

“The customer appreciation event was meant to be a fun way to both highlight the store’s success and reward their customers by holding special in-store drawings and awarding prizes,” Reardon said.
