Taylor Hays of Campbell and her grandmother, Patricia Morris of Piggot, Ark., got a jump start on their Fourth of July celebration when a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket Morris bought at Hays’ request revealed a top prize of $20,000.

They purchased the “Red, White & Blue Bucks” game on July 2 at Phillips 66, 108 E. Grand Ave., in Campbell.

“I scratched it, and I almost passed out,” Hays shared, remembering the moment she scratched her winning ticket at home and realized the amount of her win.
With an understanding that the prize money would be split between them, she and her grandmother made the trip to Lottery headquarters the next week to make their claim.

Future plans include a newer car and setting some money aside for Hays’ infant daughter.

The duo’s $20,000 prize is one of five top prizes made available in the “Red, White & Blue Bucks” game, which officially began on May 20. Remaining prizes for this, and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, can be tracked on the Scratchers page.
