William Stover of Apache Flats likes to play Missouri Lottery bingo Scratchers tickets. The retired railroad engineer enjoys playing the game because they take a little time and give him “something to do.” When he won $15 on a couple of “Bingo Multiplier” tickets, he decided to cash them in and get some more. He returned to his regular stop, Bee Line Snack Shop, 5805 Business 50 West in Jefferson City, on June 18 to make the exchange. The first ticket he bought revealed a $10,003 prize.

“The cashier got them out of this other side,” recalled Stover. “She said, ‘The first one coming off is number 49.’ I said, ‘Well, that just sounds like a good number to me.’ Just joking, you know, and, by golly, that number 49 was the winner!”

Stover said he returned to his easy chair to scratch the tickets and discovered the $10,003 prize right away.

“On that ticket, man, it came right up,” Stover continued. “I still had half of it to go yet, when I had the X.”

The bingo Scratchers games play much like the real game. Players uncover lettered numbers and use them to complete a bingo card. Prizes are won by completing a line, X or four corners. Once Stover recognized the $10,003 prize, he called his wife, Gertie, for confirmation.

“My wife was downstairs doing laundry, and I said, ‘Come up here a minute!’” said Stover. He told her the good news, to which she responded, “Are you sure?”

He was certain, and a quick trip to Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City confirmed it.
“I just like to play,” he declared. Stover added that he also played Powerball and Mega Millions, and he was considering trying the new Scratchers games featuring those Draw Games.

“I’ve been playing since they started it,” he said, referring to the Lottery.

Plans for the windfall are tenuous.

“I’ve got some things to fix up around there. I need a new garage door,” he said. “My wife will find somewhere to spend it.”

Bingo Multiplier” is a $3 game that officially began Feb. 11. The game features a top prize of $50,003. More than $5 million in prizes, including four top prizes, remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket here at MOLottery.com.
