An asphalt worker from Phillipsburg is laying down plans of his own after uncovering a $100,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers game. Oliver Angst, 68, bought the winning “Millionaire” Scratchers ticket at One Stop, 1215 Mill Creek Road, in Lebanon.
“I scratched that first one, and it kind of spooked me,” said Angst. “I thought I had the wrong ticket. The first number was $10,000, and I said, ‘This can’t be right.’”
Angst said about four or five people in the store were witness to his good luck, but he hurried home to share the news with his girlfriend, Shirley.
“She thought there was something wrong with me; the way I hollered at her,” he chuckled.
Although Angst has been playing the Lottery for a long time, he claimed this was his first big win. Plans for the windfall include paying off his house.
“I’m going to pay my place off to start with,” said Angst. “The rest of it, I’ll probably rat hole it.”
There’s no doubt he’ll keep playing the Lottery.
“Oh, why, yeah!” he declared when asked if he would still play. “Can’t quit now. I’ve got a pocketful of Scratchers I just bought here!”
“Millionaire” is a $10 game that officially began May 20. The game features three top prizes of $1 million, of which, two remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket here at MOLottery.com.
