Missouri Lottery Prize Helps Winner Pursue Dream Career
When 25-year-old Amanda Eaton of St. Peters stopped for coffee on her way to work, she received a jolt like she’d never experienced and it had nothing to do with the caffeinated beverage. While waiting in line at Petro Mart, 9653 St. Charles Rock Road in Breckenridge Hills, the first-time Missouri Lottery winner tried her luck on a Scratchers ticket that coincidentally held a $100,000 top prize.
“I’m not a regular player,” Eaton admitted, noting that the “20X The Cash” Scratchers ticket purchase was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
“I did a double-take,” she recalled, referring to when she uncovered the first of what turned out to be a total of five $20,000 prizes on her winning ticket.
After realizing she’d just won enough money to pay off all of her bills, the medical assistant teased that she immediately thought, “Do I really have to go to work today?”
“I just closed on a house yesterday, so I’m very excited,” she explained. “The money couldn’t have come at a better time.”
As for plans for the windfall, Eaton intends to enroll in a university program to pursue a long-time career goal of becoming a registered nurse. She also added that the prize will allow her to treat her family and boyfriend to “a big celebratory dinner.”
In terms of advice for fellow Lottery players, the occasional player said this win taught her a valuable lesson – “go with your gut.” She plans to continue to follow her own advice in the future.
“20X The Cash” is a $5 game that features more than 800 prizes from $1,000 to $100,000.
