Story Photo

A 40-year-old Independence man is the newest Missouri Lottery player to win big in the “Cash for Life” family of Scratchers games. Dennis Gilliam uncovered the top prize on a “$500 A Week For Life” ticket he purchased at Price Chopper, 16611 E. 23rd St. in Independence. The ticket cost just $1.

The game’s prize payout is available in annual installments of $26,000 for the duration of the winner’s life, or winners may opt for a cash option amount of $380,000. Gilliam chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option.

The “Cash for Life” family of games – which also include “$1,000 A Week For Life” (a $2 game) and “$2,500 A Week For Life” (a $5 game) – officially began Jan. 2. Remaining prizes for these and all other Missouri Lottery Scratchers games can be tracked at MOLottery.com.
