FAIR GROVE MAN TURNS GRANDPARENTS' GIFT INTO $100,000

With a little of the money his grandparents sent him for Christmas, a 19-year-old from Fair Grove decided to buy a few Missouri Lottery tickets while visiting his friend who was at work. Thomas Lingle said that decision turned a few dollars into $100,000 when a "Holiday Cash" ticket turned out to be a top-prize winner. "I called my dad, and he didn’t believe us," Lingle told Lottery officials. Lingle said he plans to use some of the money to buy a new Chevy truck and pay off some bills. He bought the winning Scratchers ticket at Kad-E-Korner, 2633 E. Shelby Road in Springfield. "Holiday Cash," which went on sale Nov. 3, offers players 20 chances to win prizes up to $100,000.
