Rushville Couple's Luck Mushrooms Into Big Win

Story Photo

When 28-year-old Tiffany Donaldson heard her husband, Albert, return to their Rushville home after a day of mushroom hunting, he was screaming. She thought all of the commotion was because he had collected a bag of morels. After he calmed down, he told her they won $240,000 on a Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash ticket from the drawing on April 30.

“I thought he was lying to me,” Donaldson said.

Donaldson, a homemaker, teased that she doesn’t usually like her husband buying Lottery tickets.

“I will have to change my mind now,” she confessed.

The couple might use their winnings for a down payment on a new home.

Donaldson used Quick Pick to select the winning numbers on a ticket purchased at Culver’s Hawkins 66, 6401 Memorial Highway, in St. Joseph. The winning numbers were:  1, 13, 21, 25 and 33. Donaldson won the 251st Show Me Cash jackpot prize awarded since sales started in 2008.

Show Me Cash is drawn daily. The jackpot starts at $50,000 and rolls until someone wins. To date, a total of 253 jackpot prizes have been awarded. In the past 12 months, 55 jackpot prizes have been awarded. The average Show Me Cash jackpot prize $188,236.
