Aurora Man's Work Week Begins with $100,000 Win

A Monday morning trip to work perked up in a hurry for an Aurora man, who became $100,000 richer on his way to the job site. It all started when Ryan Jenkins, 34, stopped for a soda and a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket at Fastrip, 104 S. Main St., in Cassville.

“It took about 10 minutes to scratch it,” Jenkins said of his winning “$1,000,000 Classic Cash” ticket. “Because I just kept looking at it and thinking, ‘This can’t be right!’”

Jenkins admitted to several more minutes spent in his vehicle just trying to let it all sink in.

“I called my wife, and she said, ‘Shut up and go to work,’” he laughed, reflecting on her initial disbelief. “So I texted her a picture to prove it.”
He then made his way to the Lottery’s Springfield office and, as reality began to hit, Jenkins said he wasn’t sure what he will do with his winnings, “other than pay bills.”

“All we could think about was being debt-free for a while,” he added.

The $10 “$1,000,000 Classic Cash” ticket officially began on Jan. 2 and offers a top prize of $1 million. Jenkins’ prize of $100,000 was one of 16 made available in the game. Remaining prizes for this, and all Missouri Lottery Scratchers games, can be tracked at MOLottery.com.
