When Anne Yueh was offered a promotion at work, she bundled her vacation together to go see an aunt in St. Louis. The Houston, Texas, resident said “it had been a long time” since she had seen her aunt, and this seemed like the perfect time. Her aunt gave her a Missouri Lottery “MONOPOLY™” ticket “as a joke,” but it turned out to be highlight of Yueh’s vacation when she uncovered a $100,000 prize.
“I kind of had to do a double-take,” she recalled about the winning moment. “I had to rub my eyes a few times. It was supposed to be a joke.
“I’m glad it’s not,” she added, hurriedly.
Plans for the windfall are simple. Yueh, 27, is paying off her student loans.
“I’ll be living debt-free for the first time in my life,” she said, her voice breaking.
“Missouri is like my favorite place now,” she concluded. “I think I’ll be visiting more often.”
The winning ticket was purchased at A1 Beep & Cash, 8607 Olive Blvd., in St. Louis.
“MONOPOLY” is a $5 game that officially began Sept. 10, 2012. In addition to a top prize of $2 million, more than $3.3 million in prizes remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket here at MOLottery.com.
