Terri Lueckenotte of St. Elizabeth likes to play the Missouri Lottery. In fact, when she had a little luck one morning, she decided to return to Bee Line Snack Shop, 6318 State Route B in Jefferson City, to try again. During that visit, she purchased a “$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” Scratchers ticket that resulted in a $10,000 prize.
“I stopped that morning and got a ticket on this side, this register, and won $25,” she explained. “And so I decided, well, I’ll play this side today.”
The strategy worked well for Lueckenotte, who admitted everything is random. It took her a few minutes to realize how much she won when she uncovered the prize.
“The 20 times was at the bottom. I hit the 20 times and didn’t really get excited because I’ve hit 20 times before and was expecting $10,” she recalled. “Then I scratched off the $500 (prize), and the whole concept of third-grade math went right out the window. I couldn’t figure it, and then I figured it out.”
Lueckenotte, 52, also figured that karma might have played into her win.
“I stopped and bought Girl Scout cookies,” she offered. “I think that was what did it.”
The windfall was welcome for the state employee and regular player. She joked that she was going to “own” her teenage daughter’s mouth again, after paying off her braces. And Lueckenotte hopes to win again.
“Basically, pay bills and play more Lottery,” she said.
She did offer some advice for other Lottery players.
“Play in moderation; play within your means,” she said.
“If you’re going to hit a big one, you’re going to hit a big one,” she added. “People have to understand it’s a game of chance.”
“$4,000,000 Cash Spectacular” is a $20 game that officially began Aug. 11, 2012. The game features a top prize of $4 million. In addition to two top prizes, more than $54 million in prizes remain in the game. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket here at MOLottery.com.
