Daniel and Michelle Gobron relocated from California to Harrison, Ark., in 2007, but regular shopping trips to Missouri enabled Daniel to claim the second $50,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Slingo” Scratchers game. He bought the winning ticket at Rapid Roberts, 295 Laurel St., in Ridgedale.
“My wife is actually the player,” said Daniel. “I just have to pay for them.”
He explained that his wife and daughter argued about which ticket to buy, and his wife finally made the decision to buy “Slingo” because “it was new.”
“That was the winning ticket,” he declared.
Gobron said his daughter, Morgan, scratched it off and announced they had won $500. He checked it and noticed the “blackout,” correcting her that they had won $50,000.
“Just everybody kind of sat down in disbelief,” recalled Gobron.
He said most of the prize would “go in the bank.”
“I’ve got a car I need to pay off,” he added. “And, of course, my daughter gets some of it for her schooling.”
There may be some more money for Scratchers on the next trip to Missouri. Gobron said they didn’t play the Lottery in Arkansas.
“I like Arkansas pretty well,” he concluded. “I like Missouri pretty well now, too.”
“Slingo” is a $3 game that officially began Jan. 2. Gobron claimed the second top prize of six in the game. To date, more than $7 million in prizes remain. Track prizes remaining for any Missouri Lottery Scratchers game here at MOLottery.com.
