An 18-year-old factory worker from Greenfield bought a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket on a Saturday night supply stop that resulted in a $100,000 top prize. Shannon Robison bought the winning “Black Pearls” Scratchers ticket at Casey’s General Store, 1510 N. Glenstone Ave., in Springfield.
“My friend needed a pack of cigarettes, so I went to the store to get him some and decided to buy one,” began Robison, about his decision to purchase a “Black Pearls” ticket. The game is the second Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket to feature play areas on the front and back of the ticket.
“I like that bonus game on the back,” he explained. “I scratched that bonus right away, and that’s where it was.”
Robison said he went back into the store to confirm his good fortune, but after working a 12-hour shift at Jarden Plastics, he “went home and went to bed.”
He didn’t have any plans for the windfall, suggesting he would put it in the bank for now.
“I’ve got lots of ideas, but I’m not sure what to do with it yet, though,” he stated.
Robison will continue to the play the Lottery and told other players to “keep buying them until you win.”
“Black Pearls” is a $5 game that officially began April 21, 2012.
