Chesterfield Woman Takes Home $100,000 Lottery Prize

A Chesterfield woman uncovered one of the top prizes on a Missouri Lottery “$100,000 Cash Blowout” Scratchers game, thanks to a last-minute change of heart. Dana Golio, 58, had originally gone inside the Mobil station at 17287 Wildhorse Creek Road in Chesterfield to get a soda after fueling her car. Instead, it was a Lottery game that caught her eye.

“I just stood there looking at the tickets for a second, and I said, ‘You know what? I’ll just get five of those instead,’” she shared.

Golio didn’t immediately scratch the tickets, taking them home before beginning her routine of scratching all the numbers on each ticket first and leaving the prize amounts until the end.

It was the fifth and final ticket that revealed her win.

“I saw the ‘5x’ symbol, and I was like, ‘Ooh, “5x,” oh good,’” she explained. “I was thinking I won $15 or $20, and I kept scratching.”

It didn’t take long for her to realize she had won much more.

Laughing, she described how she turned to her cats and said, “I think your mother just won $100,000,” before calling her husband to share the good news.
Golio said she had no firm plans for how to use the money.

“We’ll put it in the bank and decide as a family,” she stated.

Five top prizes of $100,000 remain unclaimed in the “$100,000 Cash Blowout” game. The game officially started Dec. 3, offering more than $18 million in total prizes and a bonus play area on the back of the ticket. All remaining Scratchers prizes can be tracked at MOLottery.com.
